ALYH ABOVE is a multidisciplinary artist, researcher and worldbuilder constructing artistic research projects aimed toward studying, expressing, and reflecting on The Human Experience as Creative Process and its role in black fulfillment.

Native to West Palm Beach, FL and currently creating out of Philadelphia, PA, their work is expressed through music, writing, production, design, film, archive, theory, philosophy, and creative liberation strategy. Since 2015, ALYH ABOVE’s practice has used art, creative research, worldbuilding and the study of Life as Art to honor and proliferate black fulfillment.

At current, they are developing their worldbuilding studio, here + human, which equips artists and cultural workers to create the world(s) we need next. Through here + human’s non-linear educational, artistic, and archival offerings, ALYH intends to help seed liberative change. They are also crafting existentia. — the name of both a speculative world and an art-journal made up of black fulfillment ephemera.

WHY FULFILLMENT?
Fulfillment has always been a form of black resistance. We have always decided that we were going to thrive anyway, whether that meant subverting dehumanizing systems to serve us, or creating our own. We have used this form of resistance to create worlds within this world — ones that can support and preserve the fullness of our humanity.

WAYVCAST: can you feel the water?

2024
WAYV WILSON
ALYH ABOVE, Editor + Co-Director

an experimental short film based on WAYV WILSON’s project, WAYVCAST.

Musiqology Media Group’s own multi-modal artist, WAYV WILSON, privately debuted a a short film in the summer of 2024, which brilliantly captures the vibrant intimacy of their monthly EP/Podcast/Concept Album WAYVCAST.

Brimming with stunning beats, lush harmonies, poignant poetry and rapping, eavesdropped voice memos, gorgeous singing, and ear-bending production, WAYVCAST is a musical revelation. It’s been called “a study of musical understatement and overachievement—both diaristic and epistolary—it seems fueled by a millennial-melancholia in sepia tones, powered by a fertile, unfettered poetic musical imagination, and aimed at the universe and not a target audience.”

WAYVCAST: can you feel the water? translates the magic of the sonic approach into a majestic and introspective visual statement. With deliciously captured cinemaphotography by Derwin Madison and Koby Murphy and brilliantly edited and co-directed (with WAYV WILSON) by ALYH ABOVE, the project was screened to a delighted private audience. The screening took place in Germantown’s own Our Culture House, one of Philadelphia’s beautiful art gathering spaces. DJ Lil' Dave was on-hand to moderate an informative Q&A with the artist, and V sang as well.
